Certification of wood industry products

We carry out certification of wood industry products, we are a unit accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (certificate No. AC 098).

We offer our customers comprehensive services in:

  • certification of products of the wood and furniture industry for compliance with the requirements of national standards, European standards and technical approvals (covered by accreditation),
  • certification of composite wood products for compliance of formaldehyde emissions with US EPA and CARB requirements,
  • certification of wood industry products – solid biofuels (e.g., pellets, briquettes) for compliance with the requirements of national and European standards,
  • participation in conformity assessment and verification of constancy of performance of construction products.

  1. Certification of composite wood products for formaldehyde emission compliance with United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) requirements

The certification is based on Ordinance No. 93120 – 93120.12 Title 17: ‘Final version of the Ordinance – ways to control toxic substances in the air used to reduce formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products’.

We have this type of certification in our scope of accreditation with the PCA. Certification is carried out according to the ‘Programme for the certification of composite wood products for compliance of formaldehyde emissions with CARB requirements’.

Products certified for formaldehyde emission compliance:

  • hardwood plywood (HWPW),
  • particle boards (PB),
  • dry formed fibreboards (MDF, HDF).

Certification is carried out according to scheme 3 in accordance with Table 1 of PN-EN ISO/IEC 17067:2014-01 Conformity assessment. Basis for product certification and guidelines for product certification schemes.

The elements of this system are:

  1. Sample selection and/or collection;
  2. Determination of properties, if applicable, by laboratory test;
  3. Evaluation [as defined in EN ISO/IEC 17000:2006];
  4. Certification decision (granting, maintaining, extending, suspending, withdrawing certification);
  5. Authorisation (granting, maintaining, extending, suspending, withdrawing the right to use certification marks);
  6. Supervision includes:
    • periodic control testing of samples taken at the Supplier’s site and evaluation of their results,
    • control assessment of the Supplier’s laboratory work,
    • verification of competence and control of laboratory staff at the Supplier’s site,
    • control evaluation of the production process (technical and organisational conditions).

as part of it we carry out:

      • certification of constancy of product performance – system 1
        certification of conformity of factory production control – system 2+

We participate in the assessment and verification of constancy of performance of construction products, as part of which we perform:

certification of constancy of product performance – system 1,
certification of conformity of factory production control – system 2+.

The products subject to assessment are:

  • wood-based panels
  • wall coverings,
  • wood flooring,
  • structural timber,
  • glued laminated timber.

The elements to be assessed are:

in system 1:
determination of product type,
initial inspection of the production plant and factory production control (FPC),
continuous supervision, assessment and evaluation of FPC.

in system 2+:
initial inspection of the production plant and FPC,
continuous supervision, assessment and evaluation of FPC.

We carry out certification of domestic and imported wood industry products and furniture in terms of:

  • voluntary certification for conformity with the requirements of national, European, international standards and other documents (e.g. technical approvals).

Products certified to comply with the above requirements are:

  • furniture,
    wood-based panels,
    laminate flooring,
    wood flooring,
    veneered particle boards,
    solid biofuels.

Certification system

Certification is carried out according to scheme 3 contained in PN-EN ISO/IEC 17067:2014-01.

The elements of this system are:

  1. Selection (collection of samples);
  2. Determination of properties, if applicable, by testing;
  3. Assessment of technical and organisational conditions at the manufacturer;
  4. Evaluation [as defined in PN-EN ISO/IEC 17000:2006];
  5. Certification decision;
  6. Granting the right to use certificates or trademarks;
  7. Supervision includes:
    • testing of samples from the factory or, in the case of furniture, a control involving visual inspection of the product at the factory and evaluation to determine the need for possible repetition of product testing,
    • assessment of technical and organizational conditions at the manufacturer.
