Cooperation with EIT Urban Mobility
The Maritime University of Szczecin joins the EIT UM coordinated by Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology – part of the European Institute of Technology (EIT), established by the European Commission to strengthen Europe’s capacity for innovation.
The EIT brings together leading business, education and research organizations, creating dynamic international partnerships. The EIT communities develop innovative products and services and train a new generation of entrepreneurs. Since the beginning of 2021, we have been a member of EIT Urban Mobility and we are working to accelerate positive changes in mobility in more habitable urban spaces – emphasizes Przemysław Zawodny, PhD, Deputy Research Director at Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology.
We believe that cooperation with EIT UM will enable us to use the potential of research teams from the Department of Management and Logistics at AMS and to expand our experience in the implementation of international projects, as well as competences obtained as part of cooperation with enterprises. It should be emphasized that the Department boasts the richest achievements in the field of research on urban logistics in Poland. The employees of the Department have been involved in international projects in this area for over 10 years and actively cooperate with the largest companies on the KEP market – emphasizes Associate Professor Stanisław Iwan, PhD.
On May 23, Green Cities 2022 – the 5th International Conference Green Logistics for Greener Cities took place, during which a letter of intent was signed regarding the cooperation of the Maritime University of Szczecin with EIT UM RIS Hub Poland. The signatories of the document are Associate Professor Stanisław Iwan, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Economics of Transport AMS and Przemysław Zawodny, PhD, Deputy Director for Research Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology, member of the EIT UM RIS steering committee.
In addition, thanks to cooperation with EIT UM, we will try to develop a research offer that focuses on issues related to the broadly understood management of logistic systems, transport processes and the development of companies in the TSL industry, especially in the context of implementing the principles of sustainable development and innovative technologies – emphasizes Associate Professor Stanisław Iwan, PhD.
As the coordinator of the EIT Urban Mobility Hub in Poland, our goal is to support scientists, innovators and entrepreneurs in Poland to transform their best ideas into products, services and new jobs. This is in line with the priorities of the largest research program in Europe, Horizon Europe, as well as the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, which strive for cooperation between universities, business and research and development centers, as well as start-ups and broadly understood business – adds Małgorzata Kirchner, EIT UM coordinator in Poland.
EIT Urban Mobility has identified six key areas related to urban logistics and mobility in which partner institutions are involved:
