Food4CE – Strengthening Innovation Capacities Among Central European Alternative Food Networks

Project co-funded by the Interreg Central Europe programme. Project co-financed by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education within the framework of the programme entitled International Co-Financed Projects.
Acronym: Food4CE
Type: R&D
Start date: 01.03.2023
Project completion date: 28.02.2026
The main objective of the project is to support AFNs (alternative food networks) and provide them with innovation and knowledge transfer centres (Innovation Hubs) to share knowledge and best practices. The Innovation Hubs are based on the Living Lab mechanism, which serves as a systematic tool to understand challenges, share examples of best practice, develop innovative solutions and support policy-making.
The project is developing two innovative tools: a knowledge transfer platform (for sharing best solutions and best practices) and a matchmaking platform (for creating new B2B and B2C solutions and services). An international network of innovation centres will be set up to share experiences and solutions between AFNs on a transnational level.
The whole process will lead to the creation of sustainable and durable AFNs at national and transnational level, which will continue to operate even after the end of the project. The active participation of decision-makers in the Innovation Hub meeting will create opportunities for streamlining the policy-making process and aligning resources with AFN needs. The above activities will be preceded by an analysis and mapping of stakeholders and business models specific to AFN, coordinated by Łukasiewicz – PIT, an analysis and mapping of needs and solutions applied within short food supply chains (SFSC) and the identification and benchmarking of best logistics practices operating within AFN.
