Invention entitled ‘Reverberator for RFID signals and method to increase communication efficiency in RFID signals’ (Pat.231155/P.420744)

Description:

The object of the invention is a device designed to improve the reading efficiency of RFID tags in the presence of an obstacle. The proposed RFID reverberator can find application to improve the reading of RFID tags on identified objects. Metal stirrers have been used to increase the reading efficiency of RFID tags. Their dimensions, material and shapes were chosen to operate in the ultra high frequency (UHF) radio frequency range. The stirrers were made of zinc-coated steel sheet. The designed system reflects the signal sent by the transmitting antenna. The reflected signal can reach a tag separated from the antenna by an obstacle. The stirrer is made to rotate so as to illuminate the largest possible area. The RFID reverberator is equipped with a drive system that allows fully automatic rotation with speed control. The design can operate in two modes – dynamic and stationary. The stirrer can rotate at a fixed, selected speed and has the ability to be positioned at any angle, causing variable reflection conditions.

The aim of this invention is to develop a device for eliminating areas for which there is a reduction in the reading efficiency of placed RFID tags. The essence of the solution is the use of a movable stirrer to illuminate, with an electromagnetic wave in the UHF range, areas of low reading efficiency. The use of stirrers with different shapes makes it possible to optimise the way the wave is reflected.

Benefits:

The advantage of the RFID reverberator according to the invention’s specifications is its simple design, which allows its configuration to be adapted to specific needs depending on the type of objects to be identified and enable easy and versatile implementation. The stirrers provide a reflective element for radio waves. This improves the effectiveness of object identification, in the face of existing obstacles in the room: metal elements, liquids and other materials that reflect or absorb radio waves. The location and position of stirrers can be easily changed, allowing better identification of objects. The RFID reverberator can be used to improve the identification and tracking of objects, e.g. in warehouses, production plants, commercial buildings, etc.

Status of legal protection:
