Invention entitled ‘PV-T hybrid system for drying plant biomass’ (Pat.237403/P.418978)

Description:

The object of the invention is a device intended for drying plant biomass, which is an innovative configuration of a PV/T  hybrid (photovoltaic/thermal hybrid) system integrated with a chamber dryer.

The essence of the proposed solution is that the PV/T hybrid system for drying plant biomass is a device that generates a stream of heated air at the outlet of the PV/T system, which is then injected through a nozzle into the chamber dryer. The air flow is forced mechanically by a transverse radial fan located at the inlet of the PV/T system.

The invention is used in the technique of confectioning agricultural crops, such as vegetables, fruits, grasses, as well as obtaining raw plant biomass for energy purposes. The target application of the device is organic agri-food, fruit and vegetable processing enterprises and individual farms, where there is a need for a low-temperature heat source in the form of heated air.

 

Benefits:

  • the system meets the requirements of organic farming,
  • a perfect solution when a low-temperature heat source is required for the operations carried out for confectioning of agricultural crops,
  • unlike competing solutions, the solar radiation concentrator of the presented device has a parabolic shape,
  • individual components of the device are powered by energy from PV cells.

Status of legal protection:

The technology consists of patent Pat.237403 granted by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, in force from October 3, 2016.

Property rights to the invention are vested 100% in the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznań Institute of Technology.
