Description:
The object of the application is a method for protecting against a collision between a train and a road vehicle at a level crossing and a system for protecting against a collision between a train and a road vehicle at a level crossing.
The method for protecting against train and road vehicle collision at a level crossing equipped with a level crossing signalling system is characterised by the following: after activation of the level crossing signaling, one waits for a certain initial time T1; then checks with a sensor whether an object is present at the crossing and, if an object is detected, activates the signal of the presence of the object at the crossing; then waits for a certain control time T2, and then activates the alarm system and sends an alarm signal by radio to stop trains within the range of the alarm signal.
Benefits:
- The method makes it possible to detect a vehicle that has stopped at a crossing after the crossing signal is activated to prevent it from colliding with a train.
- Preventing from property damage and fatalities.
- Increased safety at rail-road crossings.
Status of legal protection:
The technology consists of patent application to the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland registered under number P.424569 of 13 February 2018.
Property rights to the invention are vested 100% in the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznań Institute of Technology.
