Invention entitled ‘Bimodal rolling stock system’ (Pat.237855/P.425640)

Description:

A bimodal rolling stock system, consisting of a terminal, central bimodal bogies and outermost bimodal bogies equipped with complete braking devices, as well as end adapters and central adapters, the terminal being equipped with a rail track recessed to the level of the railheads aligned with the level of the shunting yard.  At a structurally assumed distance from the rail track are arranged the loading berths for the ramps, and the middle segment, which is supported by guide rails located perpendicular to the rail track, with the loading berths located alternately on both sides of the track in two parallel displaced routes for the introduction of the bimodal semi-trailer to the loading berths. In addition, the middle segment is equipped with guide rollers to move it in a direction perpendicular to the railroad track.

Benefits:

  • A new bimodal rolling stock system designed to transport bimodal road vehicle semi-trailers by rail, also allowing horizontal transverse handling with little vertical movement of the semi-trailer.

Status of legal protection:

The technology consists of patent Pat.237855 granted by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, in force from 19 May 2018.

Property rights to the invention are vested 100% in the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznań Institute of Technology.
