Electrical testing of rail vehicles

We carry out electrical measurements of electrical and non-electrical quantities. With well-trained staff and many years of experience, we are a leader in electromagnetic compatibility testing in the railway environment.

Electrical testing of rail vehicles – our offer:

Testing of electromagnetic compatibility of vehicles with train detection systems:

  • on the basis of axle counters [Annex S-02 of UTK President’s List, ERA/ERTMS/033281, EN 50617-2, CLC/TS 50238-3] is performed by passing the tested vehicle over measuring antennas placed successively at both rails;
  • based on track circuits [CLC/TS 50238-2, ERA/ERTMS/033281, Annex S-02 Letter of the President of UTK], which consists in measuring interference of the return current to the overhead contact line.

Testing of rolling stock in this scope is aimed at assessing traction performance by determining, among other things, the actual traction characteristics (tractive or driving force) and wheel girth adhesion. In addition, the scope of the tests may also include the measurement of energy and fuel consumption.

The tests are performed in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) No 1302/2014, ‘UITP PROJECT ‘SORT STANDARDISED ON-ROAD TEST CYCLES’.

Testing of the legal data recorder for on-board data monitoring is performed by forcing events that are recorded in the recorder’s memory.

Tests of the national on-board signalling systems SHP and CA include verification of correct installation and completion of the above-mentioned devices and their operation under actual conditions on the tested vehicle.

Tests are carried out in accordance with PN-EN 62625-1, the manufacturer’s documentation, annex S-04 of the List of the President of UTK.

ESC tests on vehicles are intended to check the behaviour of the vehicle and the response of the vehicle equipment to signals and information transmitted from the trackside infrastructure.

RSC tests of vehicles are intended to check the compatibility of the GSM-R radio system in the radio data exchange part for the on-board ERTMS/ETCS equipment of the ESC system.

The tests are performed in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) No 2016/919 and PKP PLK test scenarios.

Static and dynamic tests of current collectors are performed to check the dynamic characteristics and quality of current collection at standstill and while driving.

The tests are performed in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) No 1301/2014 and Commission Regulation (EU) No 1302/2014.

Write to us if you need a comprehensive offer for the following areas:

  • ETCS tests, ERTMS tests, ESC tests, RSC tests, SHP and CA systems,
  • electromagnetic compatibility tests, magnetic fields,
  • pantograph tests, tests of vehicle energy consumption and power supply systems, interference tests, train control, traction characteristics.
