SHK – Prototype of railway brake system for road-rail machines pulling wagons

Project funded by the National Centre for Research and Development and implemented under the LEADER XII Programme
Acronym: SHK
Type: R&D
Grant: PLN 1 499 496.50
Start date: 01.10.2021
Project completion date: 30.06.2025
Project objectives:
Conducting R&D work aimed at producing and verifying on the basis of experimental research, a railroad brake system, innovative on the European market, capable of controlling the braking process of hauled wagons.
Benefits:
The project is a response to the current lack of a Polish solution for a rail brake system for rail-road machines pulling wagons. Compared with foreign proposals, the system will be distinguished by: doubled rail brake control (redundancy), a module for monitoring the psychophysical activity of the rail-road machine operator, an automatic system for equalizing pressures in the railcar control reservoirs, integration of the brake system controller with the vehicle controller, system diagnostics based on the data bus.
Results:
The end result of this project will be a type of railroad brake system approved by the Railroad Transport Authority for rail-road machines pulling railcars.
