No. RPWP.01.01.00-30-0003/18-00

under:
Priority Axis 1 “Innovative and competitive economy”,
Measure 1.1 “Development of the R&D infrastructure of the scientific sector”
of the Regional Operational Programme of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship 2014-2020.

Value of the project: 5,606,340.00 PLN
Funding from the European Funds: 3,217,047.75 PLN
Project duration: 01.03.2019 – 31.12.2021

Main Objectives:

The main objective of the project is the development and modernization of research infrastructure, enabling the implementation of complete application, aging and environmental tests on wooden matrix. The project involves purchase of specialized research equipment and the creation of research stands that will meet the standards of a modern research base and allow research dissemination and development in the field of wood technology in Poland. Thus, the project will strengthen the position of the Institute and increase the competitiveness of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship.

In accordance with the specific objective of the measure, the project will increase the marketization of research and development activities by supporting R&D infrastructure and research equipment and materials in scientific units focused on meeting key needs in the field of R&D within the scope of regional smart specializations.

As a result of the project implementation, secondary objectives will be achieved, the implementation of which means direct benefits for the Applicant:

  • Increase in the number of implemented research projects.
  • Offering completely new services on the Polish market in the field of attestation, aging and environmental tests regarding wooden matrix.
  • Improvement of technical and technological facilities of the Łukasiewicz – ITD through the new research infrastructure.
  • Preparation of research stands in a way that enables people with disabilities to work.
  • Intellectual development of the staff by carrying out research and development works.
  • Increase of the innovation and research potential of Łukasiewicz – ITD.
  • Strengthening Łukasiewicz – ITD position in the country as a specialised and technologically advanced laboratory.
  • Increase of the competitiveness of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship and its importance in the field of wood technology domestically and abroad.
  • Acquiring new customers and expanding into new sales markets, including foreign markets.
  • Increase in revenues from laboratory services and increase in the number of business partners.

Planned effects:

The following apparatus sets will be purchased under the project:

  • Multifunctional apparatus set for the production and attestation of wood and wood-based elements used in wooden construction:
  1. Multifunctional stand for strength tests;
  2. Stand for testing the reaction to fire by the SBI method;
  3. Apparatus set for the preparation of lignocellulosic particles;
  • Stand for accelerated aging tests:
  1. Climate chamber for rapid temperature changes with necessary equipment;
  2. Salt spray chamber with hot air drying module with necessary equipment;
  • Environmental testing apparatus set:
  1. UHPLC liquid chromatograph with fluorescence detector (FLD) and corona discharge detector with necessary equipment;
  2. Mercury analyzer with necessary equipment;
  3. Gas chromatograph with mass spectrometer (GC-MS) with necessary equipment.
  4. Gas chromatograph with electron capture detector (GC-ECD) with necessary equipment.

Project results, thanks to the planned cooperation between science and business, will contribute to the development of industries complementary to the Applicant’s industry.

The project will also contribute to the implementation of the following indicators:

  • Number of scientists working in improved research infrastructure facilities – 13.
  • Number of R&D projects implemented using founded research infrastructure – 8.
  • Number of enterprises using founded research infrastructure – 19.

Project Schedule:
Task 1. Modernization of the ITD infrastructure, economic part
The project consists of an economic and non-economic part, therefore the investment will be implemented under two tasks. Both tasks coincide in terms of the scope of work. The entire infrastructure created as part of the project will be simultaneously used in economic and non-economic activities.

The first task is devoted to the economic part of the project, which covers the use of the infrastructure created in the project in 41%. The first task consists of two stages that are necessary for the implementation of the project.

Stage I (2019-2020)
Room adaptation and purchase of the following research infrastructure:

  • Apparatus set for the preparation of lignocellulosic particles;
  • Climate chamber for rapid temperature changes with necessary equipment;
  • Salt spray chamber with hot air drying module with necessary equipment;
  • Apparatus set: UHPLC liquid chromatograph with fluorescence detector (FLD) and corona discharge detector with necessary equipment;
  • Mercury analyzer with necessary equipment;
  • Gas chromatograph with electron capture detector (GC-ECD) with necessary equipment.

Stage II (2020-2021)
Room adaptation and purchase of the following research infrastructure:

  • Multifunctional stand for strength tests;
  • Stand for testing the reaction to fire by the SBI method;
  • Gas chromatograph with mass spectrometer (GC-MS) with necessary equipment.

As part of individual stages, adaptation work will be carried out in the laboratory space in which acquired apparatus sets will be located.

The necessary research equipment will be purchased by tenders in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Task 2. Modernization of the ITD infrastructure, non-economic part
The project consists of an economic and non-economic part, therefore the investment will be implemented under two tasks. Both tasks coincide in terms of the scope of work. The entire infrastructure created in the project will be used both in economic and non-economic activities.

The second task is devoted to the non-economic part of the project, which covers the use of the infrastructure created in the project in 59%. The second task consists of two stages that are necessary for the implementation of the project.

Stage I (2019-2020)
Room adaptation and purchase of the following research infrastructure:

  • Apparatus set for the preparation of lignocellulosic particles;
  • Climate chamber for rapid temperature changes with necessary equipment;
  • Salt spray chamber with hot air drying module with necessary equipment;
  • Apparatus set: UHPLC liquid chromatograph with fluorescence detector (FLD) and corona discharge detector with necessary equipment;
  • Mercury analyzer with necessary equipment;
  • Gas chromatograph with electron capture detector (GC-ECD) with necessary equipment.

Stage II (2020-2021)
Room adaptation and purchase of the following research infrastructure:

  • Multifunctional stand for strength tests;
  • Stand for testing the reaction to fire by the SBI method;
  • Gas chromatograph with mass spectrometer (GC-MS) with necessary equipment.

As part of individual stages, adaptation work will be carried out in the laboratory space in which the acquired apparatus will be located.

The necessary equipment will be purchased by tenders in accordance with the applicable regulations.
