Multiloco INW/BTR – Implementation of technology for dynamic testing of rail vehicles

PROJECT CO-FINANCED BY THE STATE BUDGET Project supported by a specific grant from the President of the Łukasiewicz Centre. Agreement no. 1/Ł-TABOR/CŁ/2020
Acronym: Multiloco INW/BTR
Type: R&D
Grant: PLN 3 591 908,00
Total value: PLN 6 657 860,00
Start date: 05.10.2020
Project completion date: 31.08.2023
Project summary:
The implementation of a technology for dynamic testing of rail vehicles based on modern technical solutions is a prerequisite for launching a test procedure compliant with the requirements of EN/PN-14363, especially for high-speed vehicles. The adoption of this technology is also a key condition for meeting the requirements of the TSI-Lok-Pas technical specifications and for the acceptance of new vehicles into service. The importance of the project and its relevance is further justified by the fact that it has a direct impact on vehicle safety against derailment.
It should also be emphasised that so far in Poland it is not possible to carry out dynamic tests of vehicles fully compliant with the requirements of the EN/PN-14363 standard, hence the need to use the services of accredited foreign bodies.
Expected results:
Upon completion of the project, Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology will be the only accredited, authorised and notified unit in Poland, entitled to carry out mandatory testing of any new vehicle authorised for operation on European railway lines.
The implementation of the project will enable Łukasiewicz – PIT to apply state-of-the-art technologies in the field of dynamic testing and will bring tangible financial benefits resulting from the commercialisation of the results of its work. This will occur during the realisation of the investment as a result of performing dynamic tests on the 111DE double-drive locomotive produced by PESA Bydgoszcz S.A. The forthcoming activities will result in further research carried out as part of projects co-financed by NCBR (H. Cegielski – FPS Sp. z o.o. vehicles).
