Project co-financed by the state budget. Project co-financed by a specific grant from the President of the Łukasiewicz Centre

Acronym: MODUO_TECH

Type: R&D

Grant: PLN 98 800,88

Total value: PLN 109 778,75

Start date: 01.09.2022

Project completion date: 31.05.2024

Project objectives:

Development of new topcoats – components of coating systems – that have an increased total solar reflectance value and/or retard the ignition of coated materials by reducing flame spread.

Consortium members:

  • Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute for Engineering of Polymer Materials and Dyes (Leader)
  • Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals
  • Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznań Institute of Technology

Benefits:

The increased solar reflectance of polymeric paint coatings applied to the external surfaces of modular buildings, has the effect of increasing the energy efficiency of the buildings. The ability to control the process of heat accumulation caused by solar radiation increases the energy efficiency of buildings, reducing cooling expenses and indirectly reducing energy losses resulting from overloading power grids. The use of fire-retardant coatings is one of the most effective ways of protecting combustible materials against fire. The application of a relatively thin layer is sufficient to provide effective fire protection for a given period of time. Such coatings are mainly used to protect steel structures, but also other materials such as wood, plastics and textiles.
