Project supported by the programme Social responsibility of science II - Popularisation of science

Acronym: Digital twins

Type: R&D

Grant: 364 579,6 PLN

Total value: 405 543,6 PLN

Start date: 01.10.2023

Project completion date: 30.09.2025

Objectives of the project:

The aim of the project is to popularise and disseminate knowledge (nationally and internationally) on the use of digital twins of processes for incerasing efficiency and for improvement of business processes.

Celami szczegółowy projektu są: The specific objectives of the project are:

  • to enhance knowledge of the process approach in organisational management as an alternative to functional management,
  • to enhance knowledge of the methods of creating knowledge inventories regarding the functioning of organisation in the form of standardised process models (BPMN 2.0 standard),
  • to improve the ability to develop process models independently, in order to enable:
    • precise communication with employees and business partners,
    • more effective introduction of new employees to their responsibilities,
    • understanding the impact of new technologies and tools on current processes (even before the decision to implement them),
    • making management decisions based on process knowledge,
  • increasing the ability to visualise both workflow and information flow on a single process model, which significantly improves the understanding of the logic of the flow of process transactions,
  • raise awareness of the benefits of using digital twins of processes to improve business processes and to define and determine the value of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Results:

The participants of the programme will be introduced to the most important concepts of business process modelling and simulation and will learn how to use the basic constructs of the BPMN 2.0 standard, so that they can independently model business processes and interpret process models. The acquired theoretical knowledge will be reinforced by practical exercises aimed at preparing participants to independently develop concepts for improving process efficiency, which will directly translate into an increase in participants’ skills.

The direct results of the project will be an increase in the level of knowledge and skills of at least 80% of workshop participants, who after completing the workshop will be able to correctly identify process events and activities, independently map processes in the form of formally correct constructions using elements of the BPMN 2.0 notation and correctly interpret process models. The level of participants’ competences will be verified twice, first in an “entry” test and then at the end of the workshop to verify the achieved result (source of verification of the result: attendance list, tests). Each participant will receive a certificate of participation.

In the context of the long-term effect, the participation of a diverse group of people in the workshop will contribute to the dissemination of knowledge about digital twins of processes and their importance in increasing the efficiency of business processes and their improvement.

Benefits:

The added value of the project is that by opening the workshop to foreign participants, Polish expertise will be promoted internationally. The project will provide an opportunity for the exchange of experience and good practices between participants from different countries with different levels of economic development, as well as for the transfer of Polish research ideas to foreign scientific and business entities.

Digital twins - workshop

The project involves the organisation of a series of theoretical-practical workshops to prepare participants for the independent implementation of the process approach in their professional or scientific areas of activity.
