BITWON – Research into Innovative Technology for Axially Asymmetric Spinning

Project funded by the National Centre for Research and Development under the LEADER XII programme
Acronym: BITWON
Type: R&D
Grant: PLN 1 014 842,50 (for Łukasiewicz - PIT)
Start date: 01.01.2022
Project completion date: 01.01.2024
The aim of the project is to conduct research related to the development of a method that will allow the design and optimisation of the manufacturing process of axisymmetric products using the MWS-200 spinning machine, which was awarded the Golden Laurel of Innovation in the 2019 Stanislaw Staszic competition.
The spinning of thin-walled axially asymmetrical products is an innovative technology and requires research to define procedures for designing the process technology. Describing the procedures requires investigating the influence of selected technological parameters: geometry, material and thickness of the prepreg, as well as the geometry of the gauge and presser and the feed rate. Investigating the above parameters, especially the asymmetry of the prepreg and material, on the anisotropic stress state during the process will significantly affect the process.
The planned research will make it possible to systematise the process design stage and contribute to the commercial dissemination of axially asymmetric spinning. Reducing the design time will positively contribute to reducing the price of the product, which in turn will have a positive impact on the competitiveness of the solution. The target group for the project results are constructors and technologists who are involved in the design and manufacture of thin-walled products with axially asymmetrical cross-sections in unit, small and medium batch production. Anticipated markets are: manufacturers of spare parts, the decorative industry, the aerospace industry, the ventilation industry.
