Meeting of the international project SAFARI
Łukasiewicz – PIT, together with ten other institutions, is taking part in the international SAFARI project. On December 11 and 12, 2023, their first meeting took place within the walls of our Institute in Poznan.
As part of this project, researchers will develop a new technology for producing MXenes – new two-dimensional compounds that were only discovered in 2011. The method that is currently used is inefficient, difficult, expensive and not very environmentally friendly.
– Thanks to the technology developed within SAFARI, we may be able to produce shields that protect not only against electromagnetic radiation, but perhaps also electromagnetic pulses, which could revolutionise the defence industry,” says Dariusz Garbiec, Deputy Director of Research and project coordinator.
During the meeting, the assumptions of the project, its main themes, and objectives along with benefits were presented. The leaders of the different stages of the project discussed the scope of work for which they would be responsible, as well as the tasks to be carried out by specific partners. Finally, the SAFARI implementation plan was summarised.
