Wojciech J. Cichy, D.Sc. Ph.D Eng.

Chief Specialist for Chemical Technology of Wood

In 1985, he graduated in Chemical Wood Technology from the Faculty of Wood Technology at the Agricultural Academy in Poznań (now the Poznań University of Life Sciences), where he also obtained his PhD (2004). He was awarded a postdoctoral degree in 2018 at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. He has been working at the Institute of Wood Technology (now Łukasiewicz – PIT) since graduating. He has worked in teams specialising in Chemical Technology of Wood, Environmental Protection and Bioenergy. He is a member of the Chemical Technology and Environmental Protection Research Group at the Centre for Sustainable Management.

A specialist in the field of chemical technology of wood, waste management, the production and assessment of the properties of solid biofuels, the energy use of plant biomass, and the chemical conversion of wood and biomass. He has served as an expert on ministerial and local government teams dealing with issues relating to wood energy, issues in the timber and furniture industries, wood waste management, and environmental protection in the vicinity of timber industry plants. He is the author of several hundred opinions and expert reports, as well as dozens of scientific and popular science publications, and the author of papers presented at scientific and industry conferences.
