Piotr Glazer, Ph.D Eng.

Area Leader - Head of the Research Group for Chemical Technology and Environmental Protection

A specialist in polymer technology, material recycling, and the circular economy. He graduated with a degree in Technical Physics from Poznań University of Technology and then continued his education at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands, where he earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, specializing in polymer technology. In his doctoral thesis, he combined the fields of polymer chemistry, materials engineering, and nanotechnology, developing functional polymer structures using nano- and microfabrication techniques.
After concluding his academic career, he spent eight years gaining experience in the industrial sector in the Netherlands, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of innovative solutions in the field of polymer material recycling and the commercialization of technologies. He participated in the establishment and scaling of a company that grew from a startup to become one of the market leaders in polymer waste processing in the Netherlands. As part of his industrial activities, he co-developed and implemented technologies enabling the processing of residual fractions into high-quality polymer regranulates, including PP, HDPE, and PET, meeting industry quality requirements, even in applications with elevated standards.

Since 2024, he has been the head of a research group at the Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology, where he leads an interdisciplinary team focused on recycling technologies, the circular economy, and the environmental and economic assessment of industrial processes. He is responsible for developing projects involving LCA, LCC, Social LCA, and carbon footprint analyses, supporting companies in the implementation of low-carbon technologies. His current activities also include waste upcycling technologies, recycling of difficult-to-recycle streams—including multi-material plastics and textiles—as well as biotechnological methods for recycling and environmental remediation.
