Dariusz Garbiec will be in charge of the research branch at Łukasiewicz – PIT

Andrzej Dybczynski, President of the Łukasiewicz Centre, at the request of Arkadiusz Kawa, Director of the Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology, appointed Dariusz Garbec as Acting Deputy Director for Research. Dariusz Garbec had been associated with the Metal Forming Institute, which is now part of Łukasiewicz – PIT, since 2010.

Our potential in the field of R&D is really big, so we will do everything to become a significant research institute on the map of Europe and the world. The main tasks of the acting Deputy Director for Research will be to manage the research branch and to create and implement a coherent R&D strategy with a particular focus on achieving goals of an international dimension.

Dariusz Garbiec received his PhD degree in the discipline of materials engineering in 2013 and his postdoctoral degree in the same scientific discipline in 2022. He started his work in 2010 at the Institute of Metal Forming as a laboratory technician and operated a sintering furnace for powder products. After defending his doctoral thesis, as an assistant professor he carried out research work on the production of advanced materials using the FAST/SPS technique. After the establishment of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, continued his employment as Area Leader, and after the merger of the Poznań institutes, in Łukasiewicz – PIT he headed the Division for Powder Metallurgy, and then the Research Group for Advanced Manufacturing Technologies.

He has co-authored 85 scientific publications, of which 35 have been published in journals with an IF (impact factor), and 58 conference abstracts. He has presented his research results at more than 40 national and international scientific conferences. He is also co-author of 2 patents and 4 patent applications. He has completed two research internships – at Fraunhofer IKTS in Germany and at the University of Limoges in France. He is currently leading two national projects in LIDER and TECHMATSTRATEG and two projects in Horizon 2020. He was the originator and chairman of the organising committee of three editions of the National Seminar on Spark Plasma Sintering and, from 2021, of the international Conference FAST/SPS: From Research to Industry. He is a reviewer for the National Centre for Research and Development and the European Commission. He has written about 330 reviews of scientific manuscripts for more than 70 journals. He is an associate promoter for 4 PhDs carried out in the ‘Implementation Doctorate’ programme. He is also a member of Polish and foreign scientific societies. In 2023, he received an individual award from the Minister of Education and Science for significant achievements in scientific activities. He is also a finalist in the Łukasiewicz Talent Management Programme.
