Invention entitled ‘Versatile road-rail vehicle’ (Pat.236752/P.419714)

Description:

The object of the invention is a versatile road-rail vehicle for shunting wagons, particularly on railway sidings.

The purpose of the invention is to significantly increase the functionality of the vehicle allowing it to be used more widely. The essence of the construction of the versatile road-rail vehicle comprising a road work vehicle with a load-bearing frame, equipped with a front pull-and-bump module and a rear pull-and-bump module, each of which has a cooperating running gear, and the actuators of the running gears are incorporated in the hydraulic system and the buffer beams, characterized in that the unit absorbing the tractive forces on the supporting structure of the road work vehicle is constituted by a front pull-and-bump module and a rear pull-and-bump module in conjunction with the supporting frame of the road work vehicle between them.

Benefits:

  • The beneficial effects of the invention are the optimization of the vehicle design, allowing the stiffness of the base vehicle frame to be used to transfer the longitudinal forces generated during the movement of rail wagons.
  • The solution can be used on both wide track and narrow track, as well as at the transition points of tracks with different rail spacing.
  • Since the base vehicle can be any vehicle with a frame-based chassis, it is possible to retrofit additional equipment.

Status of legal protection:

The technology consists of patent Pat.236752 granted by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, in force from 7 December 2016.

Property rights to the invention are vested 100% in the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznań Institute of Technology.
