Invention entitled ‘Method of harvesting a swath of biomass and forming it into bales by means of a tracked vehicle suitable for use in wetlands’ (Pat.228850/P.412901)

Description:

The invention is a method of harvesting a swath of biomass and forming it into bales using a tracked vehicle, suitable for use in wetlands. The harvesting of the swath does not only take place along straight parts of the terrain, but often along curves, which in turn is the reason for the systematic devastation of the peat substrate. The harvesting of reeds and grasses on peat bogs is carried out in a manner analogous to the harvesting of hay or straw using classic wheeled agricultural tractors. The solution significantly minimizes the need for stops or pauses in the boggy terrain, which significantly improves the level of safety and efficiency of the movement of tracked vehicles.

The essence of the method according to the invention is that the harvesting of the swath is carried out with the swath pick-up, which is coupled on the quick coupling of the working boom located at the front of the vehicle, then the biomass harvested from the stubble is transported successively by the pick-up conveyor, the main belt conveyor and the harvested biomass is stored in the hopper in a continuous manner; while the process of delivering biomass by the lower conveyor to the feeder, the process of rolling the biomass and forming and baling the biomass bale, the process of net wrapping the biomass bale and pushing it outside the body of the baler and unloading it using the unloading ramp are carried out in a cyclic manner.

Benefits:

  • limiting the buildup of a mud layer of overlying peat that hinders plant growth,
  • reducing downtime,
  • increasing the safety of driving in the wetland area.

Status of legal protection:

The technology consists of patent Pat.228850 granted by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, in force from June 29, 2015.

Property rights to the invention are vested 100% in the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznań Institute of Technology.
