Invention entitled ‘Machine for grinding root stumps of willow tree, bushes and saplings’ (Pat.229320/P.415825)

Description:

The object of the technology is a machine for grinding root stumps of willow, bushes and saplings, especially those left after a long-term willow plantation grown for energy purposes, as well as a plantation of fruit bushes, fruit tree saplings and liquidation of bushes during maintenance of green areas. Up to now, the clearance of willow plantations grown for energy or fruit bushes has been carried out by grinding with machinery used for forestry work, which is characterised by large working widths, high power requirements and small working depths. The root stumps and roots shredded in this way are mixed with the soil and subjected to further cultivation. The machine has grinding heads mounted pivotally in sleeves, which are arranged parallel to each other and operate in a vertical plane.  The grinding heads are equipped with rotating rotors in the form of a cylinder operating in a vertical plane, having at its perimeter symmetrically mounted radial arms arranged in relation to each other in horizontal rows located parallel to each other, ending in knife holders with screwed-on grinding knives, and the ends of the rotating grinding heads have shaped plunging parts with the plunging knives set at an appropriate angle of attack.

Benefits:

  • the possibility of in-row removal of energy willow plantations and other similar bushes;
  • high effectiveness and efficiency of action, the average amount of willow regrowth after treatment does not exceed 10%;
  • the possibility to carry out cultivation operations after a single pass of the machine and the grace period needed for drying the ground vegetative parts of the willow.

Status of legal protection:

The technology consists of patent Pat.229320 granted by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, in force from 18 January 2016.

Property rights to the invention are held by: Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznań Institute of Technology, Hugo Kołłątaj Agricultural University in Kraków and Promar Sp. z o.o. Multibranch Company.
