Invention entitled ‘Active wheeled chassis of a self-propelled vehicle, in particular a tree planting machine’ (Pat.244766/P.439796)

Description:

The active wheeled chassis of the self-propelled vehicle has four swivel, propelled wheels, with each wheel attached to the frame by adaptive suspension components. This takes the form of (four) double control arms.

Each wheel has an independent drive and actuators responsible for the steering and position of the control arm (ground clearance and camber adjustment). Both the motors and actuators can be powered hydraulically, pneumatically or electrically.

With this design, it is possible to make sharp turns or U-turns on the spot.

Active wheeled chassis technology is used in self-propelled vehicles operating in difficult terrain, such as in the reforestation of post-agricultural and reclaimed land.

Benefits:

  • increased off-road capability and the ability to cross high terrain obstacles while keeping the frame horizontal to the ground,
  • increased vehicle maneuverability,
  • possibility to integrate the chassis with automatic tree planting machines and components for the storage and retrieval of cuttings from plant nursery cassettes.

Status of legal protection:

The technology consists of patent Pat.244766 granted by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, in force from 9 December 2021.

Property rights to the invention are vested in: Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznan Institute of Technology and the Hugo Kołłątaj University of Agriculture in Kraków.
