Success of the second edition of the Science Picnic at Łukasiewicz – PIT

Can science be as enjoyable as fun? The researchers from Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology have once again proved that it is possible. The next edition of the Science Picnic (PITnik), held on 13 June, was a great success.

The initiative was aimed at primary school pupils, with a particular focus on those with limited access to cultural and scientific institutions.

The little visitors had at their disposal 20 stands prepared by Łukasiewicz – PIT employees – with passion, humour and a mission to popularise science. Among other things, pupils could print their own jewellery, learn how inductive charging works and how train wheels stick to the tracks. There was also a Screamer and Strongman competition, a guided tour around a measuring wagon and locomotive, and a field game about Ignacy Łukasiewicz. There were also bouncy castles, glitter tattoos and a climbing wall.

The “Explorers at the Start” Science PITnik event was co-financed by the state budget as part of the “Łukasiewicz Academy – Explorers’ Laboratory” project under the “Explorers” programme established by the Ministry of National Education.
