INNOBIOLAS – Development of innovative working components for forestry and biomass processing machinery based on high-energy surface modification technologies for cast parts

The project carried out as part of the Strategic Research and Development Programme ‘Modern Materials Technologies - TECHMATSTRATEG’. Agreement no. TECHMATSTRATEG1/348072/2/NCBR/2017
Acronym: INNOBIOLAS
Type: R&D
Start date: 02.11.2017
Project completion date: 01.08.2021
Consortium members:
- Łukasiewicz Research Network ‑ Krakow Institute of Technology (former Łukasiewicz Research Network ‑ Institute of Foundry) – leader
- Łukasiewicz Research Network ‑ Industrial Institute of Agricultural Engineering,
- Przedsiębiorstwo Innowacyjne Odlewnictwa Specodlew Sp. z o.o.
Project objectives:
The aim of the project is to develop innovative working components for machinery and equipment used in forestry and wood biomass production, using casting technology and high-energy laser surfacing technology. The use of a new, high-quality material obtained using casting technology dedicated to this group of products, in the aspect of its surfacing with composite wear-resistant layers, will significantly increase the attractiveness, quality and, above all, service life.
This topic fits in with the specific objectives of the TECHMATSTRATEG programme for new structural materials and the deposition of new coatings with improved performance properties (tribological wear resistance).
