SARIL – Sustainable And Resilient Infrastructure and Logistics networks

Project co-funded by the Horizon Europe programme. HORIZON-CL5-2022-D6-02-07: New concepts and approaches for resilient and green freight transport and logistics networks against disruptive events (including pandemics).
Acronym: SARIL
Type: R&D
Start date: 01.06.2023
Project completion date: 31.05.2026
The aim of the project is to investigate the response and resilience of supply chains to disruptions caused by crises, including pandemic, war or environmental crises. It also aims to increase the resilience of transport networks to disruptions and to develop models of supply chains responding to them and to enable infrastructure managers to assess the resilience of the transport network to disruptions.
The project is intended to enable the provision of information to transport process stakeholders about disruptions (warnings, early detection of disruptions), and the state of infrastructure (e.g. bridges) to allow early implementation of countermeasures e.g. using synchromodality.
The project will result in the development of models for European supply chains that are resilient to disruptions caused by crises through improved operational interconnectivity of stakeholders, services provided based on real-time status information, and pre-defined alternative routes and synchromodal approaches.
During the project work, guidelines will be developed to identify the key drivers of change in supply chains that need to be secured to maintain process continuity. A model of a dynamically responsive process will be developed, based on a selected representative section of the supply chain, and recommendations for actions for management bodies (e.g. infrastructure managers) to take when disruptions to supply chains occur.
