GreenTurn -Enabling stakeholder-centric zero-emission e-commerce delivery and return practices through transparent and collaborative supply chains
GreenTurn has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101147942.
Acronym: GreenTurn
Type: R&D
Total value: EUR 2.9m
Start date: 01.08.2024
Project completion date: 31.07.2024
GreenTurn aims at creating zero-emission logistics solutions, providing sound information on e-commerce footprints, as well as more sustainable delivery and return choices through broad cooperation with e-commerce stakeholders. GreenTurn uses design thinking approaches to develop solutions which bridge between behavioural interventions (including incentives, nudges and gamification) and delivery and return options (such as time windows, in-store pick-ups and returnable packaging, among others).
To test solutions, GreenTurn implements 5 complementary pilots involving logistic service providers, marketplace providers and retailers as partners or stakeholders. Besides, the GreenTurn pilots will touch upon social sustainability aspects too, for both customers (e.g. physical and digital accessibility), and e-commerce logistics employees (e.g. work conditions, market reintegration, etc.).
GreenTurn also aims to provide public policy recommendations and develop a toolkit for public authorities at different levels. The recommendations are intended to enable a better understanding of the different stakeholders involved in the e-commerce supply chain, their needs and expectations, as well as to identify potential legal solutions that can influence greener delivery and return choices in the e-commerce sector. GreenTurn will also enable cities and metropolitan areas to make informed decisions as part of Sustainable Urban Logistics Plans (SULPs) to reduce the impact of e-commerce on congestion and greenhouse gas emissions.
