Consortium members:

  • Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznań Institute of Technology (project leader)
  • Poznań University of Technology
  • TechCool Sp. z o.o.
  • ProCOLD s.c. A.Stasik, M.Szymczak
  • Zakłady Mięsne Brado-2 S.A.

Project objectives:

The subject of the project is to develop an innovative and environmentally friendly technology for the freezing of products of animal origin. The developed technology will be met by a refrigeration plant operating in an indirect system, which will be implemented in the own business of the company TechCool Sp. z o.o. by starting production on the basis of research results obtained in the project.

The idea to develop a machine fulfilling the innovative technological process results from market demand for the device, as evidenced by the participation in the project of the company Brado-2, whose business profile focuses on meat processing, including, to a large extent, freezing.

Expected results:

The essential functionalities of freezing technology are:

  • less refrigerant in the system,
  • the use of a refrigerant with a low GWP,
  • the use of a refrigerant that is not aggressive to personnel or the product being processed, so that no food will be wasted, as in the case of contact with a synthetic refrigerant,
  • a reduction in operating pressure in the freezer plates,
  • a reduction in the failure rate of the installation due to the use of a liquid refrigerant (visible leakage) – in the case of a vapour refrigerant, the gas escapes unnoticed into the atmosphere.

The technology developed to meet the above functionalities is sought after by manufacturers in the refrigeration industry.
