New projects at Łukasiewicz – Poznań University of Technology
At the turn of the year, four research projects were inaugurated at Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology: FORADVISE, Shift2Zero, Digital Twins Bis and INVEST. What do they concern?
FORADVISE
This project focuses on developing a European network of forest advisory organisations by accelerating the flow of knowledge, enhancing the competences of forest advisors and developing a pathway to the future Forest Knowledge and Innovation System (FOKIS) in Europe. These activities foster the strengthening of the forest sector in line with EU and national policies. The ultimate goal of the project is to progress towards more resilient, multifunctional and productive forests in Europe.
The international project consortium is made up of 34 partners. Lukasiewicz – PIT will contribute to the analysis of the needs of FOKIS participants, the preparation of training materials and thematic workshops and the involvement of project stakeholders.
FORADVISE is funded by the Horizon Europe programme.
The project manager is Dobrochna Augustyniak-Wysocka.
Shift2Zero
This is a three-year project, also carried out by an international consortium and funded by Horizon Europe. Its aim is to verify on a pilot scale the applicability of the N1 eLCVs (Electric Light Commercial Vehicle) in different urban environments. Researchers will test whether the model is scalable and suitable for future use in other cities and countries.
Partners of Łukasiewicz – PIT include InPost and Łukasiewicz – PIMOT, which will create their modification of the N1 eLCVs vehicle – with a modular trailer for regular and temperature-controlled shipments. This trailer is expected to replace three traditional vehicles, reduce operating costs by 10 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by 1-3 percent.
Łukasiewicz – PIT will test the possibilities of its use in InPost’s distribution processes. The Polish pilot will take place in Wrocław.
The project manager is Damian Dubisz.
Digital Twins Bis
Technologies of the future – Using science in digital transformation – Digital Twins Bis is a continuation of the project we started in 2023. Its main objective is to popularise knowledge on the practical use of modern solutions such as process modelling and simulation and HRI (human robot interaction) research by organising events demonstrating their usefulness in digital transformation.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and will end in 2026.
The project manager is Jacek Krzywy.
INVEST
INVEST, or INTeroperability Vision in Europe – Strategy Timeplan, is an international project to strengthen interoperability, foster innovation and promote digital transformation in European public administrations.
On the Polish ground, Łukasiewicz – PIT will cooperate with the Ministry of Digital Affairs and NASK. Our Institute will identify synergies with relevant EU and national programmes, policies and initiatives that contribute to achieving the EU’s digital decade goals for cross-border interoperability and data exchange. Researchers from Poznań will look at what EU countries are planning in terms of implementing cross-border services and data exchange, and whether these solutions can be (or are already) linked.
The project will run throughout 2025 and is funded by the Digital Europe Programme.
The project manager is Szymon Mamrot.
