Mateusz Sydow, Ph.D Eng.
Area Leader for Environmental Protection
He is a graduate of the Faculty of Chemical Technology at Poznań University of Technology, where he obtained his PhD in 2021 on the development of new LCIA methods used in life cycle assessment (LCA). He completed a five-month internship at the Technical University of Denmark in the team of a renowned specialist in the field of LCA – Prof. Michael Z. Hauschild. In 2024, he obtained a certificate of completion for the specialist course “Life Cycle Assessment: Quantifying Environmental Impacts” organised by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
He is the author of numerous international scientific articles and popular science articles. He has participated in a number of scientific and industry conferences. He is also the technical manager and key contributor to a number of R&D projects.
His research interests include: the circular economy, life cycle assessment (LCA, S-LCA and LCC), carbon footprinting, environmental biotechnology, the remediation of contaminated land, and multi-material recycling using microorganisms.
He is currently developing a new technology for the disposal of creosote-treated waste wood (including railway sleepers) using microorganisms. In previous research, he was involved in developing an innovative method for the bioremediation of soil contaminated with creosote.
